Hey guys,

Was curious about getting a BluRay drive... The screen I have is a Samsung Syncmaster 2232BW (I would link, but it's not on OCUK, so you'll have to Google, sorry :/) and wondered if I'd be getting HD quality from this screen? It's not marked as HD-Ready or anything, it's just a standard TFT monitor...

Thanks!

I think that it would be better quality than dvd on your screen but not as good as it would look on a full hd monitor, I may be incorrect so wait for some more replies ;~)

As long as its capable of 1920 x 1080 resolution you'll get your HD picture. Quality is another thing altogether, obviously it won't look as good on your monitor as it will on a Kuro or Bravia but it'll still look lovely.

It's 1680x1050 :(

I actually had your monitor up until two or three months ago. Unfortunately there is a bit of a drop off in quality at that resolution (somewhere between good upscaled dvd and full HD). I didn't realise this until I upgraded to a 24" Samsung though.
