Hi what are your recommendations for flexible software for 24fps blu ray playback on multiple monitor configurations
(laptop screen fixed 60hz, secondary screen 24hz p2270hd, hdtv supporting 50/60hz)

50hz needs frames sent twice and 5% speed-up
60hz needs successive frames sent for 3 and 2 refreshes giving associated judder
72,120hz need frames sent 3,5 times

Contenders seem to be

Code:
[FONT="Fixedsys"]                    24hz     50hz      60hz     72 hz
MPC-HC + andvdhd x with reclock [Previous thread 'MPC-HC plays blu ray discs just fine..' had some data on this ]
windvd x
powerdvd x
tmt3 x
splash player [ [url]http://mirillis.com/en/index.html[/url] ][/FONT]

1. anydvdhd has benefit of giving multiregion playback
2. can try genuine frame interpolation for 50/60hz http://www.tested.com/news/how-to-enable-motion-interpolation-on-your-movie-files/329/
I do not have sufficient cpu horsepower for this; anyway sky hd apparently adopts speed up approach
(maybe they have better s/w than re-clock for audio speed-up)
3. previous thread discusses (free-ware) makemv5 ripper; can this be used to rip blu-ray sufficiently fast and then playback with mpc-hc
but need lots of free disc space (it appears makemv5 is no no longer free from September so benefit gone)
4. concern for native windvd/powerdvd/tmt3 24hz/50hz support is that the data is always sent at 60hz and get image tearing.
5. powerdvd & tmt3 apparently work with reclock (windvd does not) so maybe they can do 50Hz or ... reclock just gives them basic 60hz vsync
capability ?
5. (other than interpolation) no good/judder-free solution for 60hz laptop
... are there laptops with changeable frequency

Perhaps there are other significant distinctions between players.
- interface on mpc-hc is less elegant than winddvd/powerdvd/tmt3 but multi-region benefit seems to make it compelling
- anydvdhd has regular updates for new AACS/encryption keys
- ability of players to exploit hardware acceleration

I'm not sure BD's will work in multi-screen configs due to the HDCP protection (anyDVD HD may be able to strip this away though?)

I use TMT3 without anyDVD HD but that will always complain if I'm using my 2 tft's. Switching to my 3rd screen/tv (as the only screen in use) and it works fine

cokecan72,
Thanks, I will only be driving one of the four screens at any
one time (I listed them to confirm the need for a player that could work
without judder for different refresh frequencies)

I have read that of the pay players TMT3 has the best reviews
what refresh frequency are you driving your tft at ? native 24hz ?

Cheers, Paul

Ah you shouldn't have a problem then. I used to use powerDVD but I had no end of issues with that (plus I still have a lot of HD-DVD's which aren't supported in that anymore).

I've got it connected to a 720p DLP projector at 50hz
