I have an old Pioneer multiregion DVD player that has served me well over the years, but I'm getting lazy and can't be bothered to fire up my PS3 to play Blu-rays.

I'm looking for a good value player, ideally below £100, but will go up to £150 if it's really worth it. I have an old TV, I don't need state of the art stuff.

Only thing it must have is a flat top so I can put crap on top of it.

Multi-region for DVD is easy. Have a look at the selection from RicherSounds as a start.

Bear in mind though, cheaper players will only have HDMI out and some form of digital audio connection which is usually optical. There's no SCART, no analogue stereo audio (red & white phonos), no video outs of any kind. Check carefully to make sure it'll be compatible with your existing TV/AV system.

Stuck my head into RicherSounds on Thursday morning asking if they sold what I needed, they said sure. Went by after work and turns out they're all out of stock.

They recommend Sony's for the job, but my main dislike with them is that they don't have a flat top. My TV units lacking in space, so I need to stack stuff.
