My dad bought a Samsung LE46A656A1FXXU TV last week and after plugging my 360 with in with a HD DVD it looks amazing so he wants to get a blu-ray player for it now.

He mentioned the SAMSUNG BD-P1500-XEU that can be had for under £200 and means he can operate it from the samsung TV remote.

Is it any good at that price?

Also what about the Samsung BD-P1400/XEU for under £150, I have read the problems have been fixed with the new firmware.

the p1500 is the best value standalone there is. its a great little player thats quiet and more than quick enough. tbh, you can really go wrong with it for £160

its not a patch on the sony 350 and the sony is just as cheap now £170 in places or £200 with 6 films from a certain rental shop

not a patch? any reason why?

never meant to say not a patch james m8 just that it gets 5/5 and it won the battle against the 1500 and i had one and there was nothing better than it booting up in 8 seconds, and there doesnt seem to be as many probs with the sony as there is with the samsung but thats going of reading what the lads have to say over at av-forums,but i went back to a panny bd50 because i liked the dialogue enhancement it had on,
