I'm trying to build a pc for the sole purpose of ripping my collection of blu rays, converting video formats and burning video files to blu ray and dvd. Can someone recommend what I'll need? Bare in mind that I'm attempting to keep costs low, whilst ensuring that I get a pc that does these tasks quickly.

Thanks

Done the spec below, is this too costly, onboard GPU which the motherboard has a HDMI output.

Thanks. That's the perfect kind of price actually. I'm looking at £600-700 as the absolute maximum. Will I need a dedicated graphics card or is that not used for what I'm after? Would an i7 or an amd with multiple cores be better or is an i5 fine?

Sorry if I seem a bit dense... I 've never built a pc before and I have no clue what components even influence ripping, conversion and burning.

The i5 beats the AMD, if you opt for a after market cooler you should be able to get 4.4ghz on the cpu.

The onboard GPU will be fine, unless you fancy some gaming?

Don't worry about the questions, were here to help :)

Edit:

Comparison link between the 2500 & 2600k cpus:

No gaming at the moment, but I might look into it at some point.

Do I need to purchase a separate cooler if I'm not going to overclock? Also, do I need to buy extra fans for cases or will the ones provided be sufficient?

From that comparison, it looks like the figures for the 2600k are better for what I'm after, but not by much. Am I right in thinking that or have I just interpreted that completely the wrong way? If I'm right, is the difference noticeable or small?
