So, upgrading an Asus Laptop with Win7 to Win8. The blu-ray software (AsusDVD, which is cyberlink blu-ray software rebranded) worked fine, tested with a disc and everything just great. Performed upgrade to Windows 8 and now the program is reporting a security error and its refusing to load or play any form of movie disc, both dvd/blu-ray.

Ideas on why? Have I missed something?

yep had this to nothing to do with anti virus just need to upgrade your playback software for windows 8 i had to get power dvd ultra for it to work nothing else did.

If you haven't done so, get yourself a free media centre pack key as media centre is the only way you can watch DVD's and blu-ray's in windows 8 without any third party software.

i tried downloading all the free players i couldnt get nothing working in windows 8 and the original software that came with my samsung blu ray player power dvd didnt work kept saying the antivirus was causing it not to work. i also have the media centre pack to but i had to bite the bullet and upgrade to power dvd ultra 12. was a pain.
