Apologies for hijacking this thread but what effect will not having a monitor capable of displaying 1920 x 1080 resolution have on BR/HD-DVD playback?

I'm waiting on one or two final components before putting my LG dual optical drive into my PC and will be watching movies on a Samsung monitor with a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050.

It should work fine, just will scale it down I believe.
If you look at a lot of the laptops that say they are "hd" with a blu ray drive...most of them do not have 1920 screens.
I would guess you would be fine.
