I know its an old game..but I'm going to rant..not about the game, its was a more than acceptable challenge

it sat unloved and unused until I got bored recently and had a bash at it

it took me close to 55 hours of gameplay to complete...but thats not my complaint

it the bloody achievements....20 flippin points is all I got all game!!! 55 hours to finish and nothing for completing it!!!

is this the tightest game ever in dispensing achievments!!

I got more in rainbow six vegas for just taking my photo!!!!

Must agree, I loved playing this game but only got half the points because you need to go through it 3 or 4 times to complete them!

And its not the sort of game I would even play through again.

but achievements add to the experience and make you want to play it more.

If your not bothered then thats your choice but don't come in here slagging people off because they enjoy striving for gamer points.

I wasnt slagging anyone off lol. Granted i suppose it can increase playability to an extent, but surely the main reason for playing the game , is the experience ?

Would anybody play a game with 10k points in it if the game was awful ?

dont see the point about achievements either but ive only just got a 360 so i dunno - does it give anything? do they convert to MS points or something?

I guess it adds to Gamerscore? On your profile? So if i have a gamerscore thats higher than anyone else i'm the coolest yeah?

:)

The overall gamerscore doesn't matter to me, but I like to compare games I've played with my friends. Is blue dragon any good?

I think thats how pretty much most 360 owners feel. The 'anti-achievement' squad always concentrate on the overall gamerscore (which is more-or-less meaningless).

I can see a point to it now then. But they should put more depth into it like an assessment system of how the gamer played the game (ie they saved 987 times throughout or they never saved ie Ironman :D ), how many headshots, what bits they got stuck at etc

if i check out someones Achievements on smt like FIFA ideally it should give me a summary on what kind of player the gamer is (based off stats like tackles, goals etc)

So you get a wee summary of the type of player you are and below that you get all the stats e.g. how many overhead kicks goals, dribbling, cleansheets, undefeated runs etc

maybe even a short achievement-video is taken (not chosen by the player but automatic) to showcase that player's talents which other gamers can check out.

It would also help if someone is looking for players for their clan i guess they can check out the gamer profile and see how good the player is and with what weapons but you get my drift yeah?

Instead at the moment its like little awards with no backstory or meaning behind it?

Surely all of that would be statistics rather than achievements.

An achievement to me is "Completed game on Uber Hard difficulty".

Some games do support statistics like you've said. Halo 3 and Gears of War 2, both have pretty extensive stats for every online player on their website for example.

you're right maybe i want a change to the entire achievement system then :D

an achievement is still a statistic though. But its a statistic you want/like?

Whereas the soul to it? Hows it worthwhile? I tend to ignore them when they pop up. But is an avg achievement smt like "you get an achievement for headshotting 10 ppl then another one at 50 etc"

So its like competitive bragging rights?

I still think a more indepth summary describing how the player played the game ie how great or rubbish they were would be cool. I mean that would be ideal for comparing with other people playing the same game.

Instead of checking "oh look they dont have as many achievements as me" (Note i'm just guessing here i dont know how indepth the achievements are currently)

I got 1000/1000 on one playthrough...

I found a faq which listed things you needed to not miss if you wanted 100% and didn't want any spoilers, which was nice :)

Have a link to that? Having that might encourage me to try this game again :p
