Blue Light on Wii?

I bought a Wii last week and finally got a round to having a go on Wii Sports last night. Great fun, even my wife played and I haven't been able to get her to pick up a 360 pad since I bought it.

Just as I was leaving the house this morning I noticed the Wii under the television. The blue light around the disc slot was glowing and fading, almost as if to say "don't go to work...stay home with me today!" I'm sure it wasn't actually trying to keep me at home (although it almost did!) so what was it doing?

Thanks very much chaps. I did set it up on my wireless router so it will most likely be something from Nintendo seeing as I don't have any Wii friends as of yet.

I'm sure it will be something terribly exciting
