blue/purple screen

im upgrading my nefus pc its about 4 years old. the pc currently has ati radeon express (onboard grfx) i plugged it a gwforce 8800gts, switched on the computer and i got this very loud long beep! now i have removed it and booted the pc with onboard grfx im getting this blue/purple screen ???
ive checked connections too and from monitor and there in fine.

any ideas why i got the bep and this wired screen colour ???

Did you see the machine POST? I assume you did..

The "Blue/Purple" screen only happened when windows booted?

Any beeps on boot?

when i put the grfx card in i got the continous beep i didnt give it chance to do any thing just switched it all off, the blue/purple screen is from boot and stays on.

no warning boot without the card in.

:S i just moved my keyboard 3" closer to me and the screen has gone back to normal :S wtf lol....

not sure what the power supply is on this i think it maybe 250. maybe i get the continous beep because theres not enough power to supply the card ??

i think theres a prob witht he cable i just moved it around and the weird blue/purple screen just flickers so thats that prob sorted.

so i think the power supply is 250, theres 2 sticks of ram(1gb each)

two WD raptors and a dvd drive.

still not sure why im gettting the beep at start :S???

Does your 8800GTS require a 6 pin power cable which isn't plugged in? The card will "whine" if it isn't.

I would also imagine you might be pushing it a bit with a 250 watt power supply.
