I think if (and that's a fairly sizeable if) it makes it to market, by then optical media will almost be defunct anyway. The future doesn't lie in discs any more, things will be online and downloaded to hard drives or even SSDs as prices come down. There'll be no need to keep a massive disc collection and keep swapping them over when you want to change film etc.
