Blue Ray through Vista Media Centre

Hi,

If I have a Blue Ray optical drive will I need 3rd party software such as Power DVD7 in order to watch Blue Ray movies?

Or can Vista Media Centre sort it out?

are there no 3rd party freeware things able to do this?

i've never used powerdvd or windvd, are there any benefits for normal dvd's?

no, I dont use 3rd part stuff for normal DVDs, but with the Blue Ray option I'm assuming a different decoder is required.

If its anything like XP MCE then yes but without the hardware/software i cant say for sure, might be worth looking/asking on the cyberlink forums there usually quite good.

you will need the codecs which afaik are only in pay type programs at present.

You can play both blu-ray and HD-DVD fine in mpc with the correct filters.
