i want some new blue-ray movies because i only have casino royale

a certain website has cheap discs for £12.99 , such as Terminator 2 and Goodfellas. it says "R1 - Will only play on North American Blu-ray players"

will it play on a UK PAL PS3?

Here's a link to a website showing US Blu-Ray films that should play on UK spec machines. Note that if the film isn't on the list, that the Studios are fairly consistent on whether or not their films will play.

Movietyme are a good group to source disks from.

Thats where I get my discs from I wasn't sure about linking to them

I can recommend them too - but be prepared to wait for your discs, they sometimes get stopped by customs which can delay things significantly.

They do have a specific section for US discs that work on UK PS3's (any uk br drive, but as the PS3 is the most common......) Has about 110 choices so far. Some pretty decent films too

I wouldnt think so, some Blu-Ray dics are region free but most are region specific with Region 2 being PAL.

Hope that helps

I think this confuses me?

Surely PAL doesn't have anything to do with it, it just being the format that the recieving equipment wants to display?

DVD regions and BD regions are used for region protection, and a player that will play a disc from region x would output to PAL, NTSC, 720(i/p) or 1080(i/p) depending on what you set the output signal to.

DVD regions are Here

BD regions are here

Similar, but not the same..

Also as a rule i think every Sony released Region A has been region free apart from 2 of the earliest ones iirc :)
