ok wonder if any one can give me an idea on this got parts from overclockers
Gigabyte GA-MA785GT-UD3H AMD 785G
Geil Value 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition 2.80GHz
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache boot drive
Samsung EcoGreen F2 1.5TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
Pioneer sata dvd drives
Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent Power Supply
win 7 oem 64 bit
when i try to use say winrar for instance it gets say half wa ythrough unraring and gives blue screen...there are blue screens appearing when using various programs at different times so cant tie it down to one thing ,all the temps are ok and well within the allowance
the only thing ive done is in the bios changed the memory to dual channel (ganged) mode and the timings to 9 9 9 28 and the timing up to x8 so it runs at 1600 which it should do.....so i am uncertain if its a faulty part if so which one or something else anyone got any ideas thanks.

ok another up date its having problems recognizing usb devices..... like hdd it work before the bsod now it will not find it....put it in another pc and it finds it ok any ideas lol.

Set the ram to 1333Mhz and see if its still happens and also make sure that the RAM voltage is at 1.5.Also I just noticed that in the RAM description it says 1.3Ghz(1333Mhz).

ok done that but still cant get usb external drive to work i can plug other external drives in and they work...the one that will not work on this pc works on another pc....it shows up in disk management but cant do anything with it ...its strange.

ok usb device is sorted had to uninstall from usb devices in device manager and it installe ok again...but does anyone know why this has happened thanks

It sounds like some windows bug or something like that.I myself encountered some problems with W7 when using USB devices. So everything works fine now?

lol no geting windows update failing now lol just having a go to fix this.....i have not had a bsod since i changed the voltage and and ruduced the speed so ill run for a while see what happens .

well to be honest there is a message from the trouble shoot on microsoft saying about updating the instalation files for win 7...so ive started the disc its updated the windows 7 instalation files now its installing win 7 again from the upgrade option to fix the bugs...ill see how it goe on from there ...so looks like you have to install the win 7 then update the instalation files and do it again ....thanks

after the windows updating the instalation files and using the upgrade option all the windows updates install now...so shall i stay at 1333 or try the 1600 mem speed again incase it was just the voltages that was wrong.

You should try 1600 with 1.5v and if it gives you a BSOD set it back to 1333Mhz.You could try running 1600 with 1.65v.Also is your CPU overclocked?

no cpu is at its normal speed think ill have another go tomorrow with it as its running ok now but you know how it is if its 1600 speed memory you want it running at that lol

Yeah I get your point after all you paid for 1600Mhz not 1333Mhz.But leaving that aside there isn't really that much difference in performance between 1333 and 1600Mhz.Plus lower RAM frequency helps a lot when overclocking as you'll be able to achive higher clocks especially if its an AM3 setup which yours is.

well lol its not mine its me mates i got the i 7 myself lol like you same board as you ive not overclocked though as not to sure how to ill have to look into it i see yours is running at 3.8 mine is just stock speed any clues on what i need to do to mine to overclock using the corsair triple channel memory XMS3 and the Zalman CNPS9900-LED CPU thanks

Actually I will need to update my sig.Mine is running at 4.0ghz right now.Its very easy to overclock the Core i7 920.Set the FSB to 200,the multiplier to 20x and raise the voltage to 1.20 test stress for about 3-4 hours and if its not stable just raise a little to 1.22-1.24v.

ok had a go kept going back to the fail safe because would not boot....never changed voltage though as dont know which one lol
