While playing supreme commander last night I all of a sudden got a blue screen then the computer reset itself, is this because my overclock is not stable or a problem with the game?

Im running the set up in my sig at 3.2ghz and 400 fsb all stock voltages, I stress tested it properly in orthos and it was fine. When it crashed it was 10 minutes into the game so it wasnt as if there was a lot happening to stress the cpu

Impossible to say if its your overclock at this stage. Try clocking it back to standard and test again.

My friend had the same problem. His was faulty RAM.

ok will do, all my other games seem to be fine which is what puzzled me. I've been playing fear all day and not had any problems. I supose I will see after I test it without the overclock!

are you using vista?

that game is notorious for crashes in vista. a lot of benchmarks of the game have gone into detail to state how there are crashes 5-30 minutes into game, but these issues are not present in xp

I ran memtest from a boot disc for about 4 hours just now with no errors so I think my memory is fine.

Yeah I'm running vista x64, i'll have a google to see what I can find out about it as I never even knew there was a problem with it and the game!

thanks for the link thats quite an interesting article about supreme commander, the crashes they experienced are different to the one I had as I got a windows blue screen crash which rebooted my system where as theirs crashed to the desktop.

Not really having much luck with the game as I just patched it to the most recent release and now the game woulnt start saying my graphics card doesnt meet the specific requirements and to check the drivers are up to date for it which I know they are

Managed to sort my problems with a clean install of the game, I'm pretty sure the patch didnt install properly the first time I did it and that messed everything up. Also I think the patch has sorted some of the problems which caused the game to previously crash.

Odd, but I've been playing Supreme Commander on my system, with Vista 64, and its been perfectly stable, with games lasting many hours running multiplayer scenario's without any sign of crashing.

I think this was fixed in one of the many patches out for it so it was only the original version that this happened in, mine has been fine since I patched it.
