Hi. just built a new rig. Specs Below.

Core2duo e6600
Asus P5B Deluxe
OCZ DDR2 6400
ATI x1900gt
Hiper modular 530w
Hitachi sata300 160gb
Sony DVD-RW 18x

Ok basically i'm trying to install windows xp sp2 and at either when formatting the hard drive or before my pc gets the blue screen of death. I tested the hard drive with the hitachi diagnostic tool and found no problem. What could it be??

Thank you in advance

if it happens even when formatting you pretty much take driver problems out of the equation as there are none there

if all the hardware is running @ stock then its usually memory that gives you a BSOD while formatting

make sure the CPU fan is spinning and chk the temprature in the bios as that may cause it to fail ! unlikely but you never know, my money is on the RAM

IIRC there were quite a few people who had problems with OCZ 6400 and the P5B-D when running on eairlier BIOS revisions. If you haven't done so already then update to the latest 1004 BIOS as it has improved memory compatibility in the list of fixes.

[Edit] Also make sure your RAM is set to 2.1v through the BIOS. :)

GL.

Thanks for the replies. Memtest checked out fine. Now trying to update BIOS will give the results when done. Hope this was the problem.
