Blue Screen Of Death

My girlfriends laptop is displaying the blue screen of death just before logging on
As she doesnt have an XP disc, is there a way of fixing this without a disc, or is using a disc the only option?

tried safemode, just goes back to the blue screen

It doesn't have a hidden partiton for recovery on its disk does it?

Test the ram first using memtest

to see if thats ok. Any errors at all and thats the problem. Leave running for a few hours though.

Had a friends one recently that was doing the same thing and when i removed the hard drive and put in my machine xp found courrupt files on it and fixed them before booting up. Put the hd back in other pc and all worked fine.

If its a sata hd then its easy to attatch to a desktop as it same connector but if its an older one with ide drive you will need an adapter but they only cost a couple of pounds.
