Firstly, i'm currently installing Windows XP Professional. The download went successful but when it went to the next stage where it installs windows xp, it suddenly stops whilst its installing the 'drivers'. The screen goes to the 'blue screen' with the error irql_not_less_or_equal.

At the bottom of the information, it also states "beginning dump of physical memory"..."physical dump complete".
I have tried some basic recoveries such as removing the USB connections such as the keyboard and mouse and speakers. But it still comes up!

Please help me. Thank you for reading.

Kindest Regards
Stefan

I'd suspect either memory (run memtest) or there is something defective about the XP disc. I'm assuming it's a disc, not quite sure what you mean by 'download went successful'.

irql_not_less_or_equal is usually memory or drivers. Update drivers and test memory. Why are you using XP on such a new system anyway?

I'd try installing a different OS if you could, just to make sure it isn't your XP disk causing problems. Even just a copy of the windows 7 RC would install for testing I think?

What i meant by downloading is install, sorry.
Also, how can you do a memory test? And im using a 32-bit OS, its all ive got at the moment until I upgrade to Windows 7, im installing XP so i can do coursework for the time being.

Thank you

Ive done Memtest 86, and no errors came up, i did the test 7 times, and all of them passed with no errors. So its go to be the disk, i think the disk is only an upgrade, so im ordering windows 7 ultimate.

Thank you for all your help :)
