Blue screen on new build

This may be a bit long winded, but its the only way!

Just done a new build using a C2D e6750 and a Asus P5K-E WiFi and using my old hard drives whilst the ram, gfx is also new.

When I turn it on it seems to boot up fine with it showing all the dvd drives (x2) through a PCI IDE controller card and the IDE hard disks (x2). It then shows a menu asking me how I would like to start windows e.g. 'safe mode', 'normal' etc. When I select 'normal' or 'safe mode' I get a flash of a 'blue screen' too quick to read!!

The only way i got to read some of the message was to camcorder it, again too quick for the camera to focus. But the message had something to do the the hard disk or hard disk controllers.

I removed the PCI IDE controller card, thinking it would work but still the same message appears. Even tried reinstalling XP but the cd just spins in the drive.

Any help you give would be great. Cheers

do you have the DDR voltage set to the right level? I had loads of blue screens when i first built my rig because the ram voltage was set at 1.8 as default in the BIOS whereas (for my ram) it needed to be 2.1~.

Just a thought.

You will need to check the voltage, the BIOS will detect the RAM and load default
options, details of timmings and volatge will written on the side of each module.

Did your hard drive have windows form an old pc!
You will proberly need to save your data (if you can) then reinstall windows.
Might be the case to change the boot sequence in the BIOS so the cd drives are first
boot priority.

I fixed the problem by plugging 1 of the dvd drives into the motherboard directly along with the old hdd, removed the ide card then install windows. Then I just reconnected everything up again and it works:D
