Card 4870

The problem starts as soon as I turn on the pc, at the mobo splash screen. First I will get thin horizontal lines going across the screen. On the windows (64bit windows 7 by the way) start up screen, the lines will turn into 2 thick vertical ones on each side of the screen. I will only get past this point if I uninstall any gfx drivers or go into safe mode, otherwise I will get the problem in the title. When I get into my account I will get many vertical stripes which are made of many horizontal stripes.

I have tried the most recent driver and the one before that, to no avail.
I tried a 8800gtx in my pc which worked fine.
Last time that I was able to check the temps, my 4870 was at 34c.

This has happened before, I just faffed around and some how temporarily fixed it... No idea how.

Any help would be sweeeet

No probs :)

I think they don't allow for the heatsink to be changed, you could try and put the old one back on, Looking at the Ocuk website most have 2 year warranty.

By the way, when I go into device manager>video>ati4800>driver, it displays this:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

My old 3870x2 used to do this, worked with no driver, soon as i installed a driver i just got that bsod and couldnt go any further. Tried it on another system and the same problem :(

Sucks doesn't it!?

Right, I have uploaded my bios into an editor. It is telling me that I have an unplugged power connector? Just had a fiddle with the connectors, both on the psu and gpu and they are fine.

Help?

hi there, i also have a 4870 but powercolor, and had blue screen of death issues. i got my blue screen just after the windows 7 loading screen.
i found that my sound card drivers became unstable (soundblaster audigy Se- no support on windows 7), so i took soundcard out and used onboard, and it comp was ok for couple of days, but then blue screen reappeared. After changing to a new sound card and updating Ati drivers, my blue screens have gone.

Hey hey! Just uninstalled all video (again) and audio drivers as well as flashing my bios and hey presto! I'm back on! Just gave mass effect 2 a five minute run to see how the frame rates and all is well!

Thanks for all of your suggestions, lets just hope it lasts!
