Having some problems setting up my new pc.

I have a Asus P5Q_E + Q9550. GeIL 4GB (4x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2

I had this error a couple of times since i installed windows. So i've just started to reinstall windows and it's just came up again.

What does it mean and how do i solve this please.

Really need some help please.

Thank you.

Have you set up the memory volatge and timmings in the BIOS, these will be stamped on the memory modules.
Also up the MCH voltage by.1/.2 v see if that helps.

Thanks for your reply.

Getting at the moment :(

ok i've selcted manual and it's at 5-5-5-15 Dram clocks?

Ras# to ras# delay = auto
row refresh cycle time = auto
write recovery time = auto
read to precharge time = auto

Technically, this error condition means that a kernel-mode process or driver tried to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel Interrupt ReQuest Level (IRQL) that was too high. (A kernel-mode process can access only other processes that have an IRQL lower than, or equal to, its own.)

Now I havn't got a clue what that means, but the same website said to run memtest, and also run a program to test your hdd? Don't know of any of those, although windows will tell you if you've got bad sectors.

You will need to go into the BIOS, I don't have that board so I can't tell you were to look, you need to find the SPD table's and change from auto to manual and change the first 4 lines, (4-4-4-12 I think)
Then find the overclocking area, this might be in the same area as above and up the ram volatge, default will be 1.8 I think yours are 2.1 so you will need to up by .3v it will tell upping the volatge may couse problems or highlight red just ignor this.
Do the same with the MCH volatge up by .1/.2 volts.

Don't worry it's all the fun of building your own :)

Hard drive is brand new 640 WD drive.

I've just flashed my bios to the latest one too.

Will try and install windows yet again.

Ok thanks for the info going to sound think here but whats the MCH?

I've upped my Dram Voltage to 2.10 now
My Ram is set to 4-4-4-12 this does a ring a bell now that i had to do that on my old asus board.

Thank you

MCH is the Northbridge, as your running 4 sticks it puts extra strain on the NB, my Abit IP35 PRO needed 1.4v to run 4 sticks.
Hoped this works, good luck :)

Thank you for the info and time i'll tweak that and i've just started to reinstall windows as it never finished due to that blue screen crash.

*sighs* " wish i'd stayed in bed" :D

Noooo, try only 1 stick of ram and see how that fairs, pop onto the WD website and for any diagnostic tools just to check your hd or do you have a spare one you can test.

Lol thats not a bad idea, gray & wet here.

LOL to late it's installing now.

If it finishes i'll then try one stick of mem and runa test on my hard drive.

Yet it's very wet and gray here not that i've had a lot of time to look out of the window :D

well so far so good installed XP and have OCCT running and everything seems fine so far.

Hopefully that memory tweak has worked will no in another 30mins time :).

Thanks again RJC
