Blue Screen Upon Start Up

Hi, I've just got my new upgrades and I'm a little stuck!

I upgraded my CPU from i5-3450 to 5930k, my mobo to MSI X993 SLI Plus, my ram from DDR3 to DDR4 (Corsair Vengeance 2666Mhz) and I replaced a heatsink & fan with H100i GTX. Everything went smoothly until bootup where I got a message saying: 'New memory detected.. press DEL for setup or press (?) to continue without set up' (or something on those lines. I entered setup which took me to bios, I had a look around and it seems like it's detecting the right RAM with right frequency and right voltages are used (1.2ish v). When I go to boot the PC, it crashes and blue screens right on the Windows Logo load.

Any idea what might be causing it?

do a clear CMOS and see if that helps.

might be worth checking you didn't over tighten the CPU block when installing your H100I as this can cause issues.

do you get chance to see the blue screen message?

Sorry - please could you explain what CMOS is?

I'll check the CPU block now, would it be as simple as loosening it a little?

And unfortunately I didn't, it's on there for literally 0.5 seconds.

cmos is the settings that you change in the bios.

go in to the bios and load default settings (make a note of any settings before doing this), should be a option in there towards the end saying to load defaults.

failing that if your not too sure remove the battery on the motherboard for half hour and disconnect the PC from the mains

just loosen off the 4 screws a bit as doing these up too tight can cause issues

edit*****

maybe try and re seat the ram while your at it as this has sometimes helped.

I would have thought you would need to do a re-install of Windows if you were doing a major hardware upgrade like that. You could try booting from your Windows DVD or USB media and getting it to check for startup issues.

I've tried the above. One thing I noticed is in MemTest86, it says I have DDR4 XMP 1333MHz / 14-16-16-35 which is not true. Do you think that could be the issue? How would I change this?

sometimes you need to enable the XMP profile in the bios to make it run at 1600mhz, I have to do this with my ram otherwise it runs at 1333mhz
