Hi, I reinstalled my gf's pc after using her HDD.
Using my disc with XP SP2 I got a blue screen after rebooting when install finished. Tried with my older XP disc which has SP1 only and the same problem happens. The last working install was with SP1 I believe.

As the problems now occur with both versions, would it be worth getting hold of an old XP disc from the early days with no SP's integrated?

The spec is:

Some old P4 running at 2ghz. 512mb of ram and a seagate 60gb 7200rpm HD.

Any ideas as to what is going on?
My gf is getting pretty frustrated :|

Does it allow you to boot into safe mode ?

Its highly likely that there is a driver causing the problem, maybe video perhaps..

Either that or you have a hardware issue somewhere.

Try reseating the hardware components and if it still happens maybe play the elimination game by removing say a RAM stick then booting again. Try this until you find the culprit.

My first bet would be a driver problem though.
