Typical bluebell shots. Not a macro in sight either!

A very pretty, isolated wood I discovered yesterday on a walk with my wife. A crazy posh lady we bumped into told us how to get there. She said it was magical, and she was right.

I didn't have my 20D with me at the time, so I went back this evening for a bit of a shoot. The pictures can't do it justice. Although the wood is small, blue stretches as far as the eye can see.

Nice set of photos, last photo is the best imo. Shame the sky is blown out in some of them. I can just imagine a less harsh evening sun shining through the trees. :)

Nice shots. Could maybe do with a bit of post processing to bring the blue out a bit more. I discovered a wood near Durham, which looks the same. The forrest floor is a carpet of them. Unfortunately my battery had died an hour earlier :( Im going to go back though with a full battery and get a load of shots. One thing im planning (No idea if it will work) is to take IR shots of the forest, then remove the IR filter, take a normal pic. Then desaturate the normal shot, except for the blue channel. I will then overlay the coloured one over the B&W IR shot, as a colour layer. This should hopefully give me a bright white forrest of leaves and grass, with only the bluebells in bright blue.

Nice :)

I find it really difficult getting decent pics in forests, especially with bluebells. I've found that it's best when really overcast. If you want to get the sun bursting through the tress I find it better either v. early or late in the day when the sun is oblique.

There's a great bluebell forest near me but they were up so early this year there isn't much green on the trees and my efforts at capturing them have been dismal. I think I'll have one more go this weekend.
