Occasionally the computer will bluescreen at the password screen on start up. A reset will always work in this case.

The computer has been restored to defaults, no overclock. Configuration as below in signature with

Sapphire HD5850 Toxic 2Gb GFX card
Kingston Grey 8Gb 1600Mhz ram running at 1333Mhz
Vertex 2E 60Gb SSD boot drive

I have updated the AMD drivers to 11.12 following the bluescreen, this does not seem to have changed anything.

Its annoying more than anything, and has only recently started. Any thoughts or contributions very welcome.

What does the BSOD info say? Have you got any error messages in your Event Viewer (Start -> Run -> eventvwr.msc and then hit enter)? Post them up so we can have a look. Have you changed / added any new hardware recently? Also, if you have time, check the RAM with Memtest86 (http://www.memtest.org/) and see if it finds anything wrong.

Just thought that I would post the solution.

A pinnacle dual DTV tuner 1x PCIe was installed in the second full length 16x PCIe at 4x.

Not only was this reducing the graphics to 8x PCIe but replacing it in a 1x slot on the motherboard solved the bluescreening issue.
