SEE POST 11 FOR UPDATE ON ISSUE!

Ok, so this has been an ongoing issue with my PC since my GTX470 was installed however I cannot find a cure or fix. Everytime I think I solve the issue, a few days later it happens again. For those who understand bluescreen error codes, here is the information:

BCCode: 124
BCP1: 0000000000000000
BCP2: FFFFFA80058408F8
BCP3: 0000000000000000
BCP4: 0000000000000000
OS Version: 6_1_7600
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 256_1

Now, when I google BCCode 124 it seems to relate to Nvidia graphics cards but relates itself to audio too. I have disabled the HD Audio on the GTX470 which some people recommend but this hasnt done anything. I have tried 3 different drivers from the card aswell, again with no improvement. It only ever seems to crash however when viewing media such as videos on YouTube or using VLC. It might have crashed outside of using media applications but I am unsure.

In addition to graphics fixes, I have tried different audio drivers for the onboard and today with my new ASUS Xonar D1 it still does it too. I uninstalled the onbored audio and installed the D1 drivers correctly too. I am overclocked to 3.6Ghz but I have done multiple Prime95 tests at over 12hrs a test with no issues, IBT stable everytime and its never crashed in a game or when I have been rendering. Also, I have installed a new HDD as well and even on a new Windows 7 install I am having issues, so it has to be something constant which would have been on more then one OS install.

So...I am at a loss. Has anyone got any ideas to what might be going on?

Thanks

Normally "124" is caused by vtt being to low or it can even been vcore so i've noticed. Now i know you have stress test well but may be now harm upping the vtt a little just to test.
What psu have you got just incase its at its limit and not giving clean supply to mobo?

PSU is an OCZ ModxStream 700W so that should be fine.
Never actually adjusted the VTT before in the BIOS, I am taking it a small notch up from stock would help?

Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz
BioStar TPower i45

Just looked in the BIOS and saw nothing about VTT...I thought VTT was an i3/i5/i7 thing unless it means something else? I gave the NB an extra 0.25V to see if that helps at all, but obviously anymore info is great.

Yeah my apoligies,i took it for granted you had i3/i5/i7 no idea why tbh

I've not OC'ed skt 775 in a long time and not up to speed to say the least.
I still think its hardware related though.Have you tried running at stock to see if it stills happens?
At least then you could rule out the overclock.

Try memtest and also test hard drive for errors/bad sectors.
That would be my next step while i wait for the knowledgable folks to post somthing.

Heh, I obviously seem like a bloke who has highend gear...far from the truth! :P Nah I love my system though.

Well, It wasnt doing this before the new graphics card, hence why I am inclinded to look at that. I have tested the HDDs using HDTune and both are running fine. It could be memory...but I will have to look into that.

I might take the overclock off for a while, but I will miss the speed! :P It might be a good idea to benchmark before and after an overclock to see if I get 50% more speed for a 50% increase...doubt it lol!

Thanks

Right, after testing with a slightly higher NB voltage it seemed more stable. Didnt have a crash in a few days, then today another one. This time using skype. It just seems odd to me that evertime it crashes its always doing something with audio. YouTube and Skype for example. Always the same BCC124 code too. Anymore ideas from anyone?

I thought this issue had left me, but it hasnt. I have just reinstalled Windows 7 due to an unrelated issue, I was just installing firefox and suddenly the PC crashed and on restart it showed the normal BCC124 error. I am NOT running any overclock at all, I am at 2.4Ghz stock.

Now, soon as I installed the latest NVidia drivers I started to have issues. I am not going to blame the latest drivers, but I am going to blame my GTX470. Seems that on the last 3-4 driver versions its been doing this. I would go further back in drivers but I dont see the point.

Seriously guys...I am going out of my mind here. I need a stable system for rendering my 3rd year projects and knowing that it could bluescreen five times a day or once every three weeks isnt good. What do I try now?
