Bluescreen when installing XP on a new system :(

Hi guys,

I just went to install Windows XP on my new system, and during the Copying Files part of the setup just after it formats the disk, the PC bluescreens with a NFTFS.sys Error.

It is an Asus A8N Premium, Athlon 64 x2 4200+ and G-skil 2gb ram kit and a WD Raptor74gig.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? I've tried setup twice now.

Hi mate,

Yep it is an nForce4 board, and the raptor is on one of the normal SATA channels, not on the raid channel.

Might it be worth plugging the drive into a different sata port?

Right, i've plugged the disk into the 2nd SATA port and also deleted and remade the partition, and it has further than it did before.

However,just when typing this, upon restart after it copies the files, it has bluescreened saying the BIOS this system is not fully ACPI compliant.

Hi Just to let you all know, I finally manged to get XP on by removing one stick of ram during installation, and using a slipstreamed SP2 CD.
