Brother inlaw brought his pc over its been ok since building it 2 months ago but has started blue screening. So decided on a reinstall of windows. However its proving hardware fault somewhere. The i7 4790k is in a sniper mobo etc all decent stuff. However getting stuck booting into a new install and this mesage has come up ? Looks like the i7 is fudged ?

Its two months old and has not even been overclocked yet everything is at stock.
Clock_watchdog_timeout this is new to me

Any ideas ?

It wont let me complete the installation of windows :( can roam around bios etc and starts installing then crashes on the first bootup (pre config) interesting articles

try installing with only one ram stick installed

update to latest bios aswell off gigabytes website, flash through qflash and usb mem stick

That will be a pain in the arse, it was working fine how would the bios suddenly cause a problem ? Its only 6-8 weeks old, will give it a go as will try anything but i cant see the bios suddenly causing the issue. Bloody annoying i know that

idk,but its best to be on latest bios just for any compatibility issues

your running ssd's in raid? flash to latest bios then take things from there

(you can always flash back to previous bios later if you want)

No just a single ssd, just changed the ram and it got further that before on the other ram but still given up at the 8.1 "lets go through a few basics" screen

I would update bios,it will clear the cmos at same time aswell,it should just work/install without issue

just download/extract the correct bios for your mb to a usb stick, then point qflash to it in the bios and update it

Doubt it is the CPU ,I had a older Pc from peep (years ago) that was running slow and had the odd BSOD.

I wiped the HDD and tried to install Windows and it kept failing to install.

Tried everything then a spare PSU and got it installed, turns out the PSU was on way out and was just enough to run Windows but not the stress of an install when CPU/RAM/HDD's are running no doubt full pelt esp back then on old single core Intel or amd.

Just restarted then i got even further. Got as far as connecting to a wifi point then it gave up again. This really seems like the cpu is crapping out on me or maybe the mobo i guess. Gunna try bios after that where do i go

could try with igpu and no graphic card just to see if its weak/failing psu idk

but my first port of call would be to try latest bios and see if that cures it

could be psu then

can try with igpu and no gpu installed see if that puts less strain on psu and lets you install windows

Fair enough, i have a spare psu i can try. If i get the same issue ? Its a superflower psu so cant see it dieing in a couple of months but then i could say the same about the cpu i guess
