I'm interested in trying an Android emulator on my Surface Pro 6. Google-Fu has turned up BlueStacks but I'm looking for any user experiences prior to installing it.

Is it decent?
Are there better alternatives?

I abandoned blue-stacks, it had been slow, and I was concerned by malware, I've been using nox 6.6.0.1
which seems OK.
BUT , none of them successfully emulate a wireless connection a real phone has, so if your app needs that, it may not work correctly.

I created a dummy google account nonetheless, to use inside emulator

I had blocked some IP addresses too, that I'd seen listed on the web somewhere
127.0.0.1 api.bignox.com
127.0.0.1 tracking.trnox.com
....

I tried it on my i5-4670K but the emulation was way too slow.
That might be down to virtualisation not being enabled in the BIOS as I'm using bluestacks on a i5-2400 and everything I've thrown at it works..... mostly (one game insta crashes when you try to load it and a second can take a few attempts for it to become compliant and not either crash or hang)

I had no issues using this on a I7 950 @ 3ghz and 12GB of ram. Also had it running on a 2200G, onboard gpu and 16gb of ram.

also had multiple instances running as you can have a max of 10 at a time.

only problems I ran in to is that the play stored used to stop working but \i was using a older version.
