Is anyone using this:

Belkin F8T016NG 10m Mini Bluetooth Adapter

Bought this from OCUK last week and can't seem to get the supplied drivers to install. OS is Visa 64 Home Premium. When it comes to the required re-boot, the PC takes and age to shut down, and then all I seem to have is the rather hopeless effort Vista gives me in the taskbar, which doesn't work.

Oddly, the drivers installed into the 'Program files' folder (ie. the 64 bit program files) rather than '(x86)'. I did try 'Run as Administrator' as well...

Not tried to download any other drivers yet... your help is appreciated!

Brilliant, thanks for your help, I'll try these in a bit - working from home, my rig upstairs beckons...

:)

if that doesn't work, you'll have to download the drivers from the belkin site. you'll probably end up downloading something like a 50mb package when the 2 files you need are around 20kb.

Not much luck with your drivers I'm afraid, right-click on the .inf and select 'Install' results in a message saying that 'the file doesn't support this installation method' (or something similar).

I did look at Belkin's site, and you need a serial number to register to download the drivers! Their diagram shows a big dongle with the serial outlined - my tiny little dongle (ooh-err) has no pigging serial on it or the packaging! Nice one Belkin, what a farce for such an insignificant item!

I feel like giving up and waiting for my Windows 7 pre-order to arrive and seeing if it works better.

you don't right click on the inf to install. you use device manager to update the driver like this....

select manual install and browse to the folder you extracted the files to.

windows 7 detects it just fine by itself -well it does with my adapter. :)

Used Device Manager - not the right ones for my adaptor it seems, never mind, worth a try! Thanks for your help. Win 7 it is...

If anyone happens to have a Belkin F8T017, and have successfully downloaded the latest drivers, then post here, as this one shares the drivers for mine but actually has a SN on it - enabling the download!

Thanks...
