As title really. I have a retail copy of W7H and three different dongle. None work correctly. Two say they have faults and one says all is well but it can't find anything. Tried two of them on X86 system and all was well.

Anyone with experience of this?

Thanks

I bought a 'Alba USB 2.0 Bluetooth Adaptor 20m Range' from a highstreet retailer, and it works fine on both of my x64 win7 laptops. Its a competitor, so I can't link to it but just google ;)

OcUK do sell a belkin one which should work as well.

don't use x64? A lot of hardware is not compatable with it, so IMO its just not worth it.
Step down to x84...
Otherwise, contact the manufacturer of the dongles and see what they say...

x64 is slightly faster, more secure and more stable than x86. I will never go back to a 32bit system.

I've got 2 unbranded cheapo dongles here both bought for about £2 from the big auction site - both work fine in W7 x64, installing automatically. When I'm back home I'll try to find the model name/number for you.

This simply isn't true anymore. Maybe 3-4 years ago but not now.

Wonderful advice.

There are some on the Windows 7 x64 Hardware Compatibility List. There's the IOGEAR GBU421, the Kingston K33902US, the Linksys USBBT100 etc. I purchased a "mini USB bluetooth adapter" from eBay for a few pounds, and it seems to work just fine on Windows 7 x64.

Ooh dear, wrong forum to be spewing out vomit such as that dude. Might wanna take some Gaviscon or something to help keep that down in future.

Anyhow I bought a Nexxus BT dongle for the sum total of £4.99 delivered and it works perfectly with W7 x64.

could you not chance vista drivers.
x64 is only used if youve got over 4GB of ram. as the variables take up more space you could go backwards in performance if you have less than 4GB. but it should give you a performance boost of 10% if the programme is x64 aware

What? eh? pardon? does not compute? etc etc etc

My cheapo rainforest jobbie (6 a couple of years ago) works fine too - sounds like you just got very unlucky, perhaps one install messed up and as making the others play up?

I have a 'Trust' model, quite cheap and not that new, works fine on every OS I've tried it with. I think it's product number is 14693, so you may be able to see what chip it has.
