hi there, not sure on right place to put this thread so dumped it here.

i bought a dongle recently online but it was rubbish, come with rubbish software (think it was called bluesoliel) and would hardly ever connect.

im looking to get another but not sure on which as don't want to make same mistake.

i heard msi ones are good but looking online finding different ones its hard to know what to get, e.g. one called msi btoes 2.0, and others just called msi

so can anyone reccomend me good bluetooth dongle, that doesn't require any software to be running for it to work.

thanks

strange
i had a cheap bluetooth dongle(£7.99) with bluesoliel and it worked great(connected every time)
my laptop has bluetooth built in now so don't use the dongle much anymore(i just use it for bluetooth printing, as it connects to the usb-in on my printer, so i can print straight from the phone)

had to bring this back form ther dead as i still haven't got a bluetooth adapter yet.

so do the belkin ones require software to be installed and running to use it or is are they just plug and play?
im looking at a 100m belkin bluetooth for £17 but still unsure as if i get it, and then it requires load of rubbish to be running, and if like my last, doesn't work then i will have wasted even more money

thanks

I had to install Belkin's software first for it to work, it wasn't plug and play. Come to think of it I believe this was the reason I stopped using Bluetooth.

A couple of things, I am the proud owner of "el cheapo" brand bluetooth dongle, it came bundled with bluesoliel.

In my experience using bluesoliel it has been a right little charm, I even had it set up so that my SE phone could be used to skip tracks on media center and it would connect automatically in the back ground so no manual detection required.

If your having problems with connecting I would suggest that it may be the device it's self. I have found the Samsung phones are next to useless (my experience though)

have you tried a different bluetooth device to check if problems are limited to that?

i had a belkin 10m and it was fine in xp sp2 and vista 32bit. didn't need to install drivers or any other crap. windows detected it just fine. it's just a shame i've lost it..... :p

I have had a DLink dongle since god was a boy and it has worked really well. It is plug and play, but their software is better and easier to use. There was some issues as I remember, as I had two bluetooth icons in the tray, but followed a simple guide and it has been fine since. They might of even fixed the problem in SP2, I really can't remember.

I have a generic dongle just says "bluetooth" on it.. okay its range is only 10m or so but it uses windows drivers.. works on x64 vista (which if it works on that its gonna work on any windows o/s right!) and is stable.. small as well.

Could probably stick it on MM if you don't want to spend much money.
