Bluetooth Headphones Issue between Mac and iPhone

I have this annoying problem between my Mac (Studio M2 Max) and iPhone (15 PM).

When my headphones are connected to both devices, hand-off doesn't work properly. I've tested this with both Bose QC35 IIs and AirPod Pro 2s.

I play something on my phone (Podcast, Audible, Spotify), then pause it.

I then start the audio again, and it says it's playing (the audio track is progressing), but there's no sound through the headphones. It’s still connected; I can play/pause the audio with the headphone controls; there's just no sound.

If I go to the Mac and start playing something (e.g., Spotify or YouTube), the audio comes out of the headphones as expected. If I then immediately pause on the Mac and start playing it again on my phone, it works through the headphones again.

If I'm not playing anything on the Mac and this happens, I have to open an app like Spotify to start playing something to 'reset it', and then it goes back to normal again for a bit.

Anyone had anything like this? The Mac and Phone are on the latest OS versions, and this has been going on for a while, so it's not due to the latest software updates.

Yep, it does. This should help you switch.

Thanks, I've given that a go, but it doesn't help much.

The only thing the app allows me to do is disconnect from my Mac, start playing on my phone and then reconnect to the Mac — but it's not the quickest app to open and then connect to the headphones. Sometimes, it's quicker to walk back to the Mac and press play/pause to reset the connection… :o

Hopefully Apple figure it out and fix it with the next software updates.
