Hi folks,

So I am looking for a set of bluetooth headphones to use with shield tv for movies and tv so nothing fancy needed.

I really want a set that cover the whole ear for say less than 75 ideally but can push it if needed.

I got a pair of Psync S1's delivered today buy they are very small compared to the picture.

You will struggle to find a proper set of BT headphones for £75.

You could either stretch to around £100 for a Sony MDR-10RBT or Sony MDR-ZX770BNL. Stretch to £124, you could get AKG Y50BT.

My first BT headphone was the AKG Y45BT, which can be have for around under £70. It's a solid portable headphone, but it doesn't sound particular exciting and it doesn't compare to properly headphones. I recently gone and pick up a pair of Sony MDR-1ABT (as it was on Lightning deals on rainforest at £190), and the difference is night and day.

Yes it is a pain that BT headphones has such a high price premium over their none-BT models, however you should consider what level of wired headphones is consider acceptable for you first, and then it will set yourself a standard on your expectation on what's the minimum you should get for your BT headphone. Take my AKG Y45BT for example...there's nothing significantly "wrong" with it, but it is just that the AKG Y40 (the wired model) is too far off the performance of the more expensive wired headphones that I own, such as the Philips Fidelio X1, Sony MDR-MA900 etc.

Just bare in mind that "buy cheap, buy twice", like how I have left my AKG Y45BT to collect dust now that I have the Sony MDR-1ABT. IMO the AKG Y50BT should be the minimum of what people (that has any sort of audio quality expectation) should be getting.

I suppose I could always look at getting a set of wired headphones but they would need to be able to be driven from the shield controller and have a removable cable so that I could replace it with a shorter one.

Regarding sound quality and price I have been having a think and could look at going to maybe 125 to 150 if its going to give me a proper sound quality while remaining bluetooth. Wired I would ideally want to spend about 100 tops.

Have a go with the Azatom Pro BE7 headphones - They are from a British company. I just bought a pair and I have larger than average ears and they go over perfectly
They can be had for £50ish (90 from Azatom directly)
I wouldn't say I am an audiophile, but sound reproduction is really very good with reasonable, but not overpowering bass

I think if you have a Richer Sounds locally, you can probably ask for a demo of the £125 AKG Y50BT and the £165 Philips Fidelio M2BT, and have a good comparison between the two alongside with thinking about the price you will to pay.

I have the Sony MDR-ZX770BNL getting delivered today as managed to get them for just under £90 quid so that seems like a good deal and with them being noise cancelling as well it should drown out the humming of the projector fan and pc when watching quieter films and tv thanks for the suggestion.

Im not particularly impressed with Richer sounds Edinburgh at the moment as they are still sourcing my AV receiver and speaker package and did not contact me to tell me about delays.

Many headphones available in the market. quite confusing to pick the right one. They look extraordinary but performance is not exact.

Have you tried these yet?

Looking at getting a pair myself.
