I'm a bluetooth headunit noob, but would possibly like to buy one soon.

Do the headunits have a mic built into the front of the unit (I don' think so?) Or do they all have a 3.5MM jack that the mic gets plugged into (are they all supplied with the mic on a 2metre lead for this?)

All the adverts from the online sellers are really vague about these things. Can't bare to go ask in Halfords.

My meaning is mostly that I want it for hands free calls, not to fussed about streaming music as I'll do that from USB..

Unless if I link my phone to my headunit with bluetooth can I use skip track buttons on the headunit to control spotify or similar? That'd be cool.

My other requirements are 2 pre-outs, preferably 2.5V+, rear USB (HAH! I'm dreaming (why don't they do that any more)) and simple button locations

All the units I've had had a 3.5mm jack + 2M cable

Which reminds me , It's time I put my JVC KW-AV70BT on fleabay :D

Just bought and fitted a couple of Pioneer MVH-X560BT head units.

Rear USB and AUX, both supplied with extension leads, 3.5mm external mic on (I think) 4m of cable, looked like there were 3 pairs of red/white phonos, 3.5mm hole for steering wheel control adapter, RGB config of button and display colour so it matches the rest of my dash.

Mic is either visor clip or sticky pad, cable was enough to go from back of HU behind glovebox up and tucked at base of windscreen over dash and up A pillar.

No CD, though there's probably an equivalent with it. The lack of CD means the unit is tiny, much easier pushing it all back with various adapters behind the unit.

I've got two recent model Pioneer head units - the AVH-X3600DAB and the AVIC-F960DAB and they both come bundled with the same microphone which connects via a 2.5mm jack.
