Hi

Not sure if this is the correct place, so mods feel free to move.

I've just taken reciept of a Xiaomi Mi Box running Android TV 6. Its solid and doing exactly what I wanted and starts Kodi on boot; I'm waiting for Android 7 to be pushed out then I can run Live channels with DVR functionality to my TVH installation.

The supplied remote, while nice, is limited in that it doesn't have any PVR style buttons (Guide, FFW/RW etc.). Instead I'd like to get a nice bluetooth based remote that has the mic built in but also has dedicated PVR buttons and a proper button with 'Guide' on it!

I've got a Airmouse MX3 which I've got working and remapped some of the buttons so they work better with Kodi but I'd like to make it WAF proof which involves certain obvious buttons being present!

I know it has IR but none line of site control is preferential as the kids tend to like to close the TV cabinet at a whim plus, don't have to worry about pointing!

So, are there any that have similar buttons to the PS media remote (with the PS focus) or is it only harmony now for a decent style remote?

Thoughts are very much appreciated.

Chris

I tried various and to be honest nothing worked better than my Harmony Ultimate/Elite with hub, It's been used for a Shield TV, various generations of Fire TVs and all sorts of generic Android boxes I've tested (obviously also my TV, Virgin TiVo v6 and my AV Receiver as well ;))

Thanks, it seems wierd that apart from the Sony PS media remote we don't have more proper bluetooth remotes; even more surpringsly that Logitech hasn't produced one given the proliferation of Android and Apple units now.

How did you set up your remote? in MyHarmony it can find the Xiamoi Mi Box and then add that, but I can't remap any keys for Kodi using the multilaunage keymap redefiner which I used for the airmouse...

manually create/edit keyboards.xml and put it in the keymaps folder in the userdata folder.

Another option I haven't tried myself as Mi is the one box I haven't used (I'll have to remedy that soon ;))

Thanks. The issue I have is that while MyHarmony has the codes for the Xiaomi it can only replicate the bluetooth remote that comes with it.. What I need to do is understand which other device I need to add to enable the IR on the unit to receive further codes that I can customise... I'm not sure how to do it or which option to chose.

Yeah, mine is a 700 series so IR only which is why I was looking for a native bluetooth unit which I think is the problem.

You mentioned the old PS3 remote, do you have one to hand by any chance? if you do have you tried pairing it to the Mi, I have experimented with one in the past and have been hit and miss with successfully pairing with more generic Android boxes.

No I haven't, was using it as an example. It's just disappointing that we only have the Logitech harmony remotes with Bluetooth via the hub, I just want a comprehensive remote for the android device and not anything else.
