bluetooth

I have a friend whose a barmaid, anyway about a week ago someone left a usb thingy in the pub, it went unclaimed for a week so she gave it me, turns it its a bluetooth radio thing.

I have nothing bluetooth, is it popular? Or is it just used by kids to put crap on there mobile phones?

am guessin its for mobile's to transfer music files and pictures across

Well yes they can be used as a means of transferring data between a computer/laptop and a mobile device, but it isn't just kids putting rubbish on their mobiles who use them.

They obviously can be used with any bluetooth device available on the market to send/receive data between them.

They are quite popular with many being used for backing up and transferring photos/music/videos/contacts/calenders etc.. from a PDA/Mobiles Device to a computer and visa versa. As it means instead of using data cable which is often unique to one (or a particular range/models) of mobile phone and having to buy one for each mobile, you can buy a bluetooth dongle which can be used with any bluetooth mobile... Plus most data suites now function with bluetooth dongles.

But yeah with nothing bluetooth they're not much use!
