BlueTunes is a program that will allow you to use the Nintendo remote (Wiimote) as a remote control for your computer music and video library (Windows only). Using bluetooth technology, the Wiimote will allow you to control your computer from 50 feet away. Walls and floors pose no problem at all. Even the Wiimote's motion sensing is utilized - shake the Wiimote to the right and the next track is played. Best of all, the BlueTunes software is completely free. You will need to purchase a Wiimote if you don't already have one (a Nintendo Wii is not needed) and a bluetooth adapter (if your computer isn't already bluetooth enabled).

*** New feature coming soon ***
Using the Wii senor bar, you will be able to control the computer mouse by pointing at the screen. Perfect for the person that has their computer connected to the TV. A Wii is still not necessary because it is possible to purchase a sensor bar separately for under $20. You can even use two candles that replace the sensor bar. Honestly, if you are frugal, two bright infra red sources is all that is needed.

Supported by BlueTunes:

Media Players
iTunes
Winamp
Napster
Windows Media Player
VLC
Quintessential Player
Media Player Classic
Foobar2000
Zune
Yahoo! Music Jukebox
MusikCube
MediaMonkey

frickin awesome

will get a wii remote after xmas

-edit, christ £40!

wasn't the wii about £140 when it came out?

The Wii has always been ~£180 afaik.

£40 for a wiimote sounds a bit steep though. We got one along with a game (Wii Play) for less than that.

You can use your Sony Ericsson phone to control your PC if you want, I have various HID Remote control files you simply bung on the phone for Winamp/WinDVD/WMP/Mediacentre etc etc and it works great.

Only for Sony Ericsson though of course :p

Since the Wii came out they made various programs to control PC etc using Wiimote. Tried one and it was fun for about 9 seconds.

thanks. bye bye then:D

i dont know if it is supposed to be 'fun' but think of the practicality, its a great idead if you dont want to mess around with your pc changing tracks. so you got music on in the front room and your doing something in the kitchen, take the wiimote. its a great idead, but i really dont think it was supposed to be fun

i've got mine setup for that, but didn't know you could do it for winamp too :)

Decades too late I'm afraid, you've been able to control your pc with a remote for longer than I can remember. Or voice for that matter.

not with something as simple as a wii remote...

im surprised at some of the negative comments actually. people are always looking for simplier ways of doing things and it works well for a music pc. also loads of people have a spare wii remote, id say a lot more people have wii remotes than they do gyroscopic mice:) a have a ir receiver nd a touchscreen remote, but its just so easy with a wiimote lol

Remote controls aren't exactly difficult to operate.... Thats why there are negative comments. It's been done before and for less money. Also being able to control your pc from 50ft away through walls is useless when you can't see the screen, or even hear the music...

difficult or not, its still easier.

or maybe you have a pc and dont want to use the screen just to change tracks. maybe you have a htpc in the front room and all you want to do is skip tracks backwards and forwards. should you need to use the screen to do that?

just because you dont have a need for it, doesnt mean there isnt a use for it:) for people who have a spare wiimote, it a nice little app to play around with.

It's exactly the same.

The track automatically changes to the next one when the previous has finished though.
