Hi all,

I use Blueyonder as my provider.

Im looking for somewhere to host my pictures (mainly for use on 'the bay').

Would I have a webspace available through Blueyonder do you know? If so would it be a good place to store pics?

Would appriciate any tips on setting it up, is it just a cause if uplading the phots?

Thanks

I'm not sure whether blueyonder support scripting like php.

By the sounds of it you won't need any scripting so yes it would be more than sufficent for "the bay" image hosting. ;)

Usually ISP's (such as Blue Yonder) will bundle a very basic hosting package. Essentally some webspace and bandwidth.

There are many different scripting languages which allow you to develop dynamic websites. For instance this forums is run by php scripting and a MySQL database. These would generally be extra's for your standard BlueYonder freebe webhosting.

If you just want to link to images and don't require any fancy scripts or image software you can stick with BlueYonder. If however, you would like a dynamic gallery you would need to look at either upgrading your BlueYonder webhosting package or pruchase a package from another company.

Hope thats helped a bit. If you visit www.ochostreview.co.uk you will see various hosting providers and the different options provided.

That has helped, thanks Jon.

I will look into blueyonder now. Im not after anything fancy. Just want to link to the picture so it appears bigger when loaded from the blueyonder site.

Thanks,

Rich

You need an FTP software to upload photos onto your Blueyonder webspace. I recommend FileZilla which is free :)

When you've installed FileZilla, it'll ask you for some Blueyonder FTP settings, here's what I use:

Host: ftp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
Port: 21
Servertype: FTP
Logontype: Account

You'll have to use the username and password for the FTP settings that you used for signing in Blueyonder's Self Care Front-End website.

After you've uploaded some pictures, you'll find that the URLs to your pictures are:

http://www.yourusername.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/example.jpg

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for replys guys.

Im guesiing that the photo-uploader is limit compared to uploading to your own websapce due to file size restrictions?

What option do you think would be best?
