Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

ive been a by customer for 7 years now and since they uped me to 4mb i get nothign but trouble with my conection eg in games i used to ping 30/45 but now im 100/150 i try changeing channels through the surfboard ip but its never stable .could this be a problem with me modem etc ?? i am going to ring them and see what they say but was just wondering if anyone had had any similar probs and had them sorted .

Today i rescieved my bill and Telewest are trying to rip me off. As you already know i was ****** off with having to pay £25 for a 1mb connection while others who had the free upgrade were paying the same for a 4 mb connection. I called Telewest and told them that if they didnt do a deal i would cancel the subscription because i was sick of waiting for the free upgrade and paying too much for the connection i have. They told me, and other people who have done the exact same thing, that i could have a 2 mb connection for only £17.99 month until the free upgrade kicks in. Then all i woud have to do is call them and go back to paying £25 a month for a 4mb connection. I was told that if i did'nt downgrade to 4mb after the upgrade i would get an 8mb connection and pay £35 month. Well guess what, i recieved my bill today and they are charging me £35 a month for a 2 mb connection, wtf! I called them today and told them about the original deal i made and they are telling me that i agreed to a 2mb connection at 17:99 for one month then to pay £35 a month in furue. This is rubbish and i told them exaclty what i agreed to. It seems to me that Telewest are trying to pull a fast one and i can't be the only person they've tried this with. They tell me that they have to do an investigation and they will contact me within 5-7 days. They know the score and they know full well wtf they are up to. Telewest have gone right down the pan!

It’s probably not the fact that they’re after an extra 10 quid a month off you, it’s just the dumb ass’s they have working in their call centre. The person who you spoke to was probably more interested in the lunch brake they had coming up or trying to make a cup off coffee at their desk while making out they’re actually taking in what you’re saying.

I know the girls on our power loss help line couldn’t care less if you haven’t got any electricity they’re more bothered with browsing the net for a new pair of shoes or texting their mates.

I've just noticed on the bill that i've been charged for the Elite sevice when in fact i have the standard service. So everyhitng they toldme in my before was crap. I made another call to them and everything was sorted out and they will refund me £17.01 on my next bill. It all depends on who you speak to. The perso n first spoke to spoke so much rubbsih that i just put the phone down on them becaus i had no idea wtf they were talking about. The last bill had errors too. They put the wrong name on the bill for a start.

It's bad enough that they won't reduce the prices for those who are later in the upgrade schedule, but the really criminal bit is that they neglected to automatically upgrade all 2Mb customers to 4Mb. The price for 4Mb (to become 10Mb post-upgrade) was dropped to £35 per month in October but there are obviously countless numbers of people still forking out £35 per month for a 2Mb connection when they could have had double the speed for the same price.

Just so you Sheffield people know, looks like we might finally be getting our upgrade :)

http://www.blueyonder.co.uk/status/maintenanceissue.do?ticket=52370

Rotherham got their upgrade last week from what I gather.

I'm hoping that the Network maintenance they did in the beginning of march was the initial upgrade and that this one is simply passing the modem that right instructions :)

Will post 2mw morning if I see any change.

I've got this problem with BY also, especially during peak periods my ping is ranging between 100-150 where it used to be 40-50 stable. Let me know what they suggest, online gaming is becoming intolerable. It only started recently and they upgraded scotland at the end of last year.

Had the same problem here  have been with them for about 6 years and what used to be a fantastic service i would recomend to anybody ......"not anymore " :(
Many phone calls with out any joy
Was begining to think i had dial-up again with the pings i was getting
And as for the customer services .... its pants :(

This is a common problem, I had this issue from November through to mid Feb, it only got resolved when BY upgraded the local UBR's. It seems they are doing this nationwide but only slowly. I complained solid for 3 months, in the end I got £25 back from them but during the that time the service was poor and I was continually feed BS by the 'support' team.
