Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

Good to see the rest of you finally getting 10mbit :)

BY have a deal on during April - £8.99/month for first 3 months if you take the entry broadband + telephone line package.
 
Whats the point of these upgrades if they are still having the disconnection issues.

My net was down from 8PM last night till the early hours of this morning.

Starting to be a weekly thing now. :confused:

its end of april for us i'm afraid, the network around the midlands is being upgraded over the next few weeks, which is why the internet keeps going down :(

My Internet has been down since Monday evening.

Still not back up now.

Rang Telewest tonight, the bloke started saying it was because of my router that I couldn't connect. They really don't know what they are talking about. Anyways I gave him the benefit of the doubt and plugged my modem into my computer direct, still nothing.

Then he said there was a problem in the area, and that it could take a day, or it could take a month to sort out. And they couldn't sort me out any credit on my bill for the downtime.

Was supposed to be booking a holiday tonight on the net, had arranged for all my mates to get to mine for a certain time so we could sort it, looks like that is out the question.

Really starting to annoy me now.
 
Alright mate. Also in Wheatley, checked with a few mates who live round here on TW and they aren't having problems either. However when their Internet is down, mine is normally OK so it must be different lines affected or something.

I've got one of the old Webstar modems, dunno if that has anything to do with it or not. Guy on the phone didn't say that they weren't compatible anymore so i'm guessing it's not that which is causing problems.
 
dude get that thing changed, that is the problem 100% i can safley it is, they came and changed my White surfboard to the Black one, becasue i was having problems with my 4mb line when i had it, you should get that thing changed asap and all problems be gone...

out of interest are all your mates using the Motoral Surfboards?

also curious as to which part of wheatley your in, might have something to do with it also, if you say when their internet down yours is ok, suggests your on a different Grid.

yer pretty much, if you can verify what your mates are using, then you have something to tell them, that your friends and family, and other people on the internet are having no problems with the surfboards, then they should just swap it out for ya, may take a few days for someone to come and do it though, and i have no idea if you will be charged for it, as they didnt charge me, they just changed mine becasue there was a problem with it and the 4mb service.
 
As the adslguide speedtest doesnt seem to be working for some reason, is there any way I can check if my bandwidth has been upgraded? Maybe by the cable modems internal logs?

I am in birmingham, just wanted to double check.

I got 1200kb/s (10Mb) from that test site. Also get it from zen server, possibly gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk too. Unusual to max speed on 1 connection.
 
More problems again last night/today.

Cable light is showing on, internet works fine but keeps cutting out every few mins.

Restart of the modem and all is fine again.

Ringing Telewest now will see what they say. :rolleyes:
 
Turns out I can get better download speeds on identical files on another machine on the network.

I think it's time to bite the bullet and finally reinstall Windows after nearly 3 years :( Not looking forward to this.
