Blueyonder/Telewest speed upgrades

Yeah it appears that BY are having some issues, anything on any type of connection, FTP, NG, HTTP etc.. cannot get above 650-700k it seems that the network is seriously struggling under the new load at the moment. Maybe its just that people are trying out their new faster connections though?

I really hope this improves, I am considering going back to 4mb if not.

My mate has been upgraded from 1mb > 4mb today and is getting 480k! I can't hit that on a supposed 10Mb connection right now.

Ive just noticed Im at 10MB since I was looking at my cable modems setup page. At first I thought Ive gone back to 1Mb then I saw that upload was 384k. Im in the Maidstone area, which is scheduled for the roll-out to be complete by end October.

I tried gamershell.com and was getting 150KB+, so I tried ati and gamershell at the same time and normally my connection would be saturated and the downloads speeds would be limited to the sum of each being 250KB but I was over this.

Im going to try Dan Elwell's broadband speedtest now.

Its as I expected though, you will have to find a pretty special server to get your rated download speed, although more than one connection will help use more of ** bandwidth.

Im not a happy bunny. I asked to be upgraded to 4 mbit on my 2 mbit line whilst waiting for 10 mbit and I have been charged £50!! Going to give them a call and give them a piece of my mind.

The 4mb service is £50 if I recall...

It is a joke. Im not putting up with speeds like this on a supposeed 10mb connection. If i could get around 800-900k/sec from the newsgroups i would be ok with that but i cant get anywhere near that. Lat night it was going all over the shop, dropping down to 0 and then up to 600 constantly, my email was shot to hell aswell and constantly times out. On 2meg it sat at 250k/sec and never moved on the blueyonder newsgroups. Now because of the jumping about im probably only getting files slightly quicker then before. I would arther have a fixed 4meg connection than this and thats what i will go onto if it doesnt clear up in a week or so. Im supposed to be working from home in 2 weeks for 6 months and i need my connection. If its dropping of allover the place its just no good. We need reliable consistant speeds telewest NOT uncontrolable bandwidth.

Chill dude how long you been upgraded? Mine wasn't perfect to start, calmed it's self during the night... always gonna have teething probs with an upgrade this scale bud.

mine has been rock solid, full speed & no problems with mail etc..

I guess there are some localised network issues related to the upgrades, I'm sure it will get sorted.
