I'm building some cupboards with 18mm MDF doors and Blum hinges, but I'm not sure what screws to use to secure the hinges to the door and carcass as I've never done this before. I'm concerned that normal screws out of my giant box of screws will tear out of the MDF a bit too easily if put under pressure.

Any suggestions?

Get single deep threaded screws. They are often called chipboard screws. I did a job a few weeks ago using the kitchen hinges on some MDF cabinet doors and they worked perfectly. Just use a small 2.5mm or so drill bit to predrill the hole.

Screwfix gold screws are good, or Toolstation do a similar screw that is a bit cheaper. For the sake of 60p you may as well get a box, but any old screw should do as long as you pre-drill the hole.

Quite a while since I've done blum hinges in mdf freehand but it's a pain in tulip wood, I'd suggest drilling the 32mm hole in a piece of inch thick oak or similar first to use as a jig to avoid any drift

carcass screws will come with hinges, its either a 5mm or 6mm hole you need. if you need to know the distance from each edge to drill let me know.
