Hi all

Please could you adivse which is the best out of the following 2 systems.

Sony BDVE370.CEK 5.1 ch Blu-Ray Home Cinema System

Samsung HT-C5500 Blu-Ray 5.1 ch Home Theatre System

Many thanks in advance

Personally I'd avoid both of them. Get a Sony standalone player for £99, then get a decent dedicated 5.1 system with the remaining £200. If you can stretch to £250, so much the better, there's a couple of good Onkyo kits for that sort of budget.

This Onkyo system can be had for around £200 if you shop about + a standalone player as mentioned above. It will be much better than any all in one set I can think of for the money.

I have a Panasonic SC-BT230 which to be honest I can't fault, went for it as it was pretty well reviewed, integrated seamlessly with our Panasonic TV and passed the 'other half' test. It replaced a big box system based around a Marantz amp and some Bookshelf speakers, we don't have the perfect setup (TV in a corner, sit at an angle to the screen) but I can't fault it for quality of sound or the fullness. The picture quality from blu-ray is excellent and the upscalling from DVD is equally good. The added bonus is that it sounds surprisingly good with music.

It took me ages to accept going for the one box solution and the sub sat setup after years of having full size speakers and seperates but I certainly wouldn't go back unless it was for a dedicated cinema room, the living room looks so much more spacious, homely and clutter free and that is afterall what it is a living room.

(I do still have a decent seperates system for music in another room!)
