BluRay solution plus DivX, MKV, MP4 etc for G10 plasma

Held off getting a BD player, dont have a PS3 or anything and looking for something that I can use with my Pana G10 46" TV.

Ideally fairly low cost, with DivX/MP4/MKV playback from USB up to 720p.

Had heard a PS3 could do this but also read that the BD playback quality isnt on par with even £190 quid Sony BD players so thought Id ask the learned folks on here for their insight.

Even better would be to stream or link to a network share on my PC for torrented - ahem - free to view programs

I use PS3 for Blu Ray play back and it looks great. I've seen some reviews singing it's praises and others saying pretty much what you just said. I don't think you would have a problem with it at all.

Add to that the fact that the PS3 is capable of doing everything you just quoted quite easily if you set up something like MediaTomb or PS3 Media Server then it seems like a fairly good option. I never managed to get .mkv's streaming with MediaTomb but I never put that much time into it as when I was using my PS3 as a media center I didn't have any HD content.

You could buy a stand alone BD player and get something like a Western Digital TV or Popcorn hour box. I don't have any experience with either of these though so can't offer any advice about them.

As a Bluray player the ps3 is very good apparently so not sure where you got it's not as good as a standalone player from.
