Hi, I have a UMC HD ready TV & DVD combi DV3-T whatever that means.

When I run my old Windows XP PC through the VGA/PC socket everything is fine, but when I run my gaming rig Windows7 i5 system through the HDMI socket the text and overall quality of web pages is blurred.

I've tried all the things in control panel like adjusting resolution and using the text sharpener thing, but still I get the blurred text.

Is it because it's a crappy cheapo monitor, as really it's a bedroom TV with built in DVD, not a proper purpose built monitor (despite having the sockets on the back for PCs)?

Any ideas?

The problem is most likely the TV being only HD ready.

HD ready combined with HDMI is nowadays pretty much equal to showing a 1280x720 or 1920x1080 resolution via native 1366x768 resolution. Meaning you can't get native resolution in any way with HDMI. The reason VGA works better is because it actually lets your TV to accept true 1366x768 signal, and also to show it pixel by pixel, without interpolating it to a different resolution.

With Full HD TVs (native 1920x1080) there's no such problem, though lack of 4:4:4 chroma subsampling can still make colored text blurry.
