Have any of you upgraded the Audio,Fitted an Ipod after Market head unit?

If so what model doesn't look out of place.

Ideally I want MP3's in my Car...

E46 dash, some said no head unit suits a bmw dash except for a bmw one, some were quite wrong :)

It's a Sony something something btw with the mosfet amp - All I wanted was blasted MP3 playback, heh.
Good quality too, really brings out the stock 6 speakers.

mrk, you could take a photo of a white wall and it'd look awesome - how do you manage it? That looks like the sort of thing you'd find in the brochure!

I don't know if you're being serious or not :(

My thoughts too!

Just looked through your "portfolio" (is that the word?) and all the rest of them are class.

Obviously the content is good, nay awesome, but is it the camera that makes them look so "crisp"? I've never been able to take a good picture with any of our cameras, including 7.1MP ones.

I'm guessing that the 7.1MP has very little to do with quality in the end? Is it even possible to take nice photos with them?

Can't remember the model numbers off the top of my head but have the following installed:-

Pioneer AVIC-1XR Head unit
Alpine components up front (factory fittings)
Alpine co-axils in read (factory fittings)
Pioneer sub in an Acoustic Designs sealed sub box
A couple of Pioneer amps to power the above

Pics of the rear

My dad has a pretty high end alpine mp3 head unit.
Then some upgraded front speakers (although, tbh, the normal front ones sounded really nice with the head, just distorted at anything over 20.)
And pioneer 6x9's in the rear(its an estate, so not much space along the sides).

E30 316 estate(all the ice will be transplanted into his e30 325 estate with a rebuilt engine to 2.7 )

edit: alpine cda-9813 (some letters on the end I've forgotten).

Not keen on aftermarket radios in E46s so I went the OEM 16:9 route. I have fitted:

Mk4 Navigation
16:9 screen
Bluetooth
TV Tuner

Also I have an Intravee (http://www.intravee.co.uk) which is a device that allows you to connect Alpine ainet devices to BMW OEM kit. With this I have:

CHA-S634 MP3 cd changer (exactly the same casing as OEM changer so fits perfectly)
TUA-100DAB DAB tuner
KCA-410i ipod adapter
KCA-620i USB storage reader

I have a Sony XM-423SL amplifier which improves the sound a great deal despite me not even changing the speakers ('spare' ainet cable there as well for testing more alpine devices):

Next job is to fit my old xbox in and try and control it via the ibus. I've got a 12v ATX power supply which I'm going to install in the xbox rather than bugger about with inverters etc.

Thanks I guess in that case :D

Megapixels has absolutely zero impact on image quality :p - it's all in lighting and composition I'd say if it had to be as simple as possible!

Is it screwed on? the battery is under the sub so I'd have thought it would be a menace to manage!

It looks one of the best I've seen, but looking again I'd like to see a photo from a different angle. The angle you've taken it at compensates for the non centralised facia and ridge at the top so I'd like to see it taken from the opposite angle and with no fancy depth of field effects. Take a front high, rightish facing pic with a phone camera and I'll be convinced. ;)

Also I think the stereo would look better without a 'gloss' effect, as all the other panels in the BMW are matt.

Well I'm sitting at work today but I do have other angles on file online :D

Trust me brother it looks perfectly fine in the flesh!

If you insist on a direct front view then I will have to take then when I get home but I don't go for those kind of angles with any pic of anything really so you'll be putting me in a bit of a spot with that one :o

Btw it's not glossy, it's only as shiny as the buttons are on the dash itself, I guess it looks glossy on the first pic due to the interior light being on directly above.

I copied Wicksta. Have the 16:9 and iPod and Intravee.

In terms of getting everything sounding good I have a Sony sound on Top amp and an Infinity Basslink powered sub.

After playing with Nick's, my opinion is that the nav retrofit is the way forward, and that's what I'll be doing to mine very soon :D
