Hello everyone, I just fitted one of these generic MMI boxes to my F34 330d.
Its the NBT version, and all the connections are fine including the aux.

The problem is with Carplay I get a black screen, though the OEM function is normal.

Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong?
By the way, the jumper settings are 11000000 and other settings give a black screen for both carplay and OEM....

Thanks guys

Ah worked it out. The correct jumper setting is 11100000.
Funnily enough, I did try that earlier but it turns out turning the ignition off and on isn't enough.
You have to completely unplug power from the unit, and reconnect.
Hope this info helps someone in the future

An ignition cycle back-to-back won't restart the infotainment system. You need to either wait for the power off timer to countdown (takes a good 10 mins), which turns off the headunit. Or get out, lock the car and wait a few minutes. It will go into 'sleep' and turn most components off in a few minutes.

You will need to know this as the MMI units can quite often crash randomly and only a power cycle can bring them back. To accelerate the reboot process, some of them can be manually rebooted by holding down the "Back" button on the iDrive controller. This behaviour is similar to holding the "Menu" button to switch between the iDrive and MMI display outputs.
