I'm currently looking at 2nd hand M135i's and have noticed some come with CIC iDrive and some with the newer NBT iDrive.

Apart from the slight UI tweaks and a different control dial on the centre console is there much of a difference between them?

CIC to NBT is nothing like the complete redesign that marked the move from CCC to CIC.

The basic interface and the way the menus work remains the same, but NBT has more modern and flashy graphics and is a bit quicker. Pro Navigation fitted cars have a touchpad on the controller, too.

If you have a choice of two cars and one is CIC and one is NBT it's worth picking the NBT one. If you need to spend quite a bit more then it's not worth it.

Thanks Fox.

I assumed from the little bits I found it wasn't a huge change. It looks like the change over was around September 2013.

I think I'll prioritise other options over CIC vs NBT

Change was from cars built in March 2013 on the 1 series.

I decided when I bought my 6 series that I wanted the NBT changes having lived with them in the M235i, it was quite a noticeable step back to the CIC. If you haven't lived with it or been exposed to it for a more extended period of time you'll find the CIC ok.
