BMW e36 3 series car alarm problems

Does anybody experience problems with there car alarm not always sounding the beeping noise. Im also having problems turning the alarm off now and again in certain places - not sure whether its just atmospherics or not!!!

Any ideas...

Used to get the same problem on my Dad's P GT, Its electrical interference from power lines, either under or overground.
